Hands that Heal
Not long after I started cleaning houses I noticed all the aches and pains that quickly became a part of my everyday experience. Tack on a boatload of personal life stress and I actually enjoyed the work BECAUSE it allowed me to move my body and really use my muscles. I was a figure skater growing up so I’ve always been more athletic and cleaning was a good fit.
It was therapeutic to clean other people’s houses. It was work I could focus on in a pleasant environment where there was minimal one-on-one interaction with other humans. I could care for them and never remember their kids’ names. I could just detach and make things look and feel nice around me. There was always flexibility of schedule and mostly, the people I interacted with were kind and generous.
I enjoyed the challenges that hiring other people brought. Those were huge opportunities to see myself more clearly and offered enormous stepping stones to level myself up.
When a car accident left me unable to use my arm for more than 2 years. I relied heavily on the strong team of cleaners I had hired and was not disappointed! Together we were able to double our business in one year without me doing the physical work!
Because I was forced to figure out how to best serve my business, my family, and myself from my bed it gave me an opportunity to work on my business instead of in it. I “cleaned up” my finances and mastered spreadsheets, with my non-dominant hand. And I was lucky to be able to barter cleaning (that I didn’t have to do) for massage therapy from a friend and incredible therapist, Ashley Stafford, now located in Lancaster, PA, who helped me to recover from frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, and a host of other related issues. I am forever grateful to everyone who worked so hard with me all those years. It was tough. But through it all, this little green cleaner never stopped workshopping ideas.
My father was a civil engineer, he designed bridges. Coincidentally our last name also means bridge. Bridge to Wellness Bodywork seemed a fitting tribute to my late father.
The human body is made up of a bunch of different networks that all rely on one another. Highways of blood vessels
I help my clients release the tension that builds up in their active lives. I received my formal education at Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy. Introductory preparation in trigger point therapy, Swedish deep tissue massage, Integrative Assessment, Myofascial techniques, and Reflexology, as well as others.
CE courses currently include Forearm Fusion Technique and various stretching and positional approaches.
I love this work and not only do I bring a lifetime of study I also know, personally, the experience of healing through nerve damage and bringing my own body back to thriving when I really didn’t think that was possible.
I am thrilled to put all my experience and studies to good work that helps others improve function and mobility in their body; relieving pain and tension so they can do what they love.
Over the years I have done my best to bring those around me up with me. More recently I feel I have honed in on that quite a bit more.
